Semi Permanent Makeup
Semi permanent makeup is a cosmetic tattooing procedure where the pigment only penetrates the top layer of skin. Powder / Ombre brows is a technique which creates eyebrows that look like makeup application wherein the front of the brow beautifully fades for a natural finish.
Results can last 12-24 months and annual top ups are recommended to keep the pigment fresh.
Price includes a top-up treatment which is required 6-8 weeks after the first treatment.
*Patch test required 48 hours before treatment.
Microblading inserts pigment by using a tool to cut the skin whereas semi permanent eyebrows are created using a machine. Similar to tattooing, but the pigment only penetrates the top layer of skin. Semi permanent eyebrows are better suited to a wider variety of skin types compared to microblading.
The shape is drawn on and once you’re happy with it, the makeup is applied using a small machine which inserts the pigment using a needle. Anaesthetic is applied to ease any discomfort.
For eyebrows the treatment can take up to 3 hours. For eyeliner, the treatment can take up to 2 hours depending on whether only the top and bottom lash line are being treated or both.
The top treatments then usually take half that time.
Immediately after the procedure, the pigment can be 30-50% darker than the healed result – the pigment will fade to a more natural shade. Sometimes it may appear that the pigment has fully disappeared but that’s a normal part of the process as the skin regenerates – the pigment does often reappear in week 3-4.
Retention of pigment depends on many factors including, skin type, age of client, adhering to aftercare procedure, lifestyle, sun exposure, medication and vitamins.
A top up is then required 6-8 weeks afterwards to help retain the pigment for longer lasting results.
- Avoid picking, scratching, scrubbing or peeling the treated area to avoid scarring
- Avoid sun exposure until the healing process is complete. Wear sunblock cream and for eyeliner wear sunglasses. Sunbeds should also be avoided.
- Keep the treated area clean and dry.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and steam rooms while the area is healing as excess sweating can remove pigment.
- Avoid makeup to the treated area for 10 days.
- Avoid swimming as chlorinated water can potentially remove pigment.
- Please allow at least 4 weeks until any other procedures or treatments are undergone in that area (e.g. anti wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, PDO thread lift, eyebrow tinting and waxing, lash extensions)
- Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before and after the procedure to reduce any potential bleeding or swelling.
- Any waxing should be done at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.
Li-FT is a non-laser tattoo lightening / removal treatment which uses a specially formulated solution of salt and saline to draw the pigment up and out of the skin. The procedure is the same as having a semi permanent makeup treatment expect Li-FT is inserted into the skin rather than a coloured pigment.
A scab then forms which needs to be left on the skin for as long as possible in order for the solution to draw up and extract as much pigment as possible.
Multiple sessions are often required and this can vary from one treatment to up to six treatments, depending on the implantation of the original pigment and the client’s skin and healing rate.
Treatments are eight weeks apart.
