Microneedling
Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a cosmetic procedure which involves pricking the skin with tiny needles. This helps stimulate your skin’s healing process and as a result, more collagen and elastin is produced.
Microneedling can help treat the following:
- Acne scars
- Hair loss due to tension in the area
- Dark spots or patches on the skin (hyperpigmentation)
- Large pores
- Reduced skin elasticity
- Stretch marks
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
Consistent treatments will allow the skin to keep producing more collagen and elastin in order to achieve improved skin texture. If your goal is scar reduction, you’ll likely need 3-6 treatments. For collagen induction, 3 treatments is a good starting point.
Treatments are 4-6 weeks apart.
A topical numbing cream is applied and then the face is cleansed and cleaned before the treatment.
Serum is applied to the skin and the microneedling treatment is carried out on the face using a microneedling pen which glides over the skin and pricks the skin.
The skin is then toned and moisturised.
Numbing cream is applied to the skin beforehand. The client may feel some pricks in certain areas but the needle depth can be altered depending on what issues are being targeted and what level of comfort the client wants.
